Write a Thank You note to your mentor, highlighting specific learning experiences, achievements, personal growth, etc., that occurred during your Co-Op.
Thank you, mother, for allowing my friends and I to shadow you for the last month. It was interesting to see you in a work environment, as opposed to a home environment; you're still fun, even as an employer. However, you're serious and a great role model, and you taught us valuable lessons about sticking up for ourselves in the workplace. Overall, you've been my role model for a long while, and it seems you've made lasting impressions on people I care for as well.
What advice would you pass on to future seniors about Co-Op? What are the most important skills for a student to be successful with his/her experience? How could another student develop these skills prior to beginning Co-Op?
Take advantage of the opportunity! If you feel like you know exactly what field you're going to pursue outside of high school, whether or not that means pursuing education, try finding an internship that will give you a better understanding of that kind of environment. If you haven't got a clue, go for something that's out there, maybe even feels out of your comfort zone a little. If you don't intend on partaking in prom or grad nite, look into a Co-op that permits you to travel! This is a rare experience for people our age, take advantage of the potential.
